How to Create The Best Tasting Keto Fat Bombs in 2 Steps!
Keto fat bombs are the perfect snack to add fat to your keto diet, on days you are not hitting your fat macros. Or on days you really crave something sweet (any time of the day!). One regular-sized fat bomb contains about 200 calories, and 85% of pure fat mostly in the form of MCT’s. This makes them excellent for anyone looking for some extra energy. In addition, they contain almost no carbs. Last but not least, they are super easy to make! You came to the right place, if you’re curious about how to make these keto treats.
Since there are so many variations, and everyone has a different taste, I challenge you to create your own perfect keto fat bomb! I will make it easy for you though, by sharing the 2 basic steps every fat bomb should include.
The only kitchen materials you need are forms, a pan, and a freezer. Let’s start!
A solid base: the fats
Healthy fats are of course always the basic ingredient of keto recipes!
Pick one (or a combination of) the following types of fat for your fat bombs
For the Dutchies amongst us: of some products you can find a link to Body & Fitshop, where you can buy the product!
Avocado oil
Cacao butter
Coconut butter
Cream cheese
Grass-fed butter
Macadamia oil
MCT oil
Nut butter
Decided on the type of fat? Melt a cup in a pan on low-temperature.
Tip: If you’re not really a fan of a heavy coconut taste, it’s best to go for a combination of different types of oil. But the coconut oil does have a really good impact on the texture.
What’s your flavour?
Let your creative flow and think about what your perfect snack tastes like in terms of sweetness and saltiness. You can even try to replicate the taste of your favourite non-keto snack!
Ingredients you can add
Flavoured extracts like rum, vanilla
(Salted) nuts such as macadamias, walnuts, and pecans
Seeds such as sesame seeds or chia seeds
Shredded coconut
Spices such as cardamon, cinnamon, vanilla
Stevia
The variations are endless!
The basic recipe
Now you’ve decided on your type of fats, and flavours, you are ready to make these fatty treats!
Find a form you can use to shape the fat bombs.
Amounts really depend on the size of the forms you’re using, and on the amount of fat bombs you want to make. I recommend to calculate 1 tablespoon of fat per fat bomb as a base, and then add the flavours to it! Use a pan to warm up the ingredients, and mix them.
Pour into the forms, then put in the freezer for about an hour.
That’s it!
My favourite fat bomb recipe
Lacking inspiration? My favourite fat bombs consist of nut butter, cacao powder, salted pecans, a little bit of stevia, and a mix of grass-fed butter & coconut oil! I never measure the ingredients, I just mix those ingredients in a pan on low-temperature until I’m happy with the taste.
How many fat bombs a day?
The fact that fat bombs are keto-friendly, doesn’t mean you can overdo it! Your daily calories can add up quickly if you eat more than 2 of them each day. See them more as a treat during special occasions or as a way to hit your macros if you have a day you can’t seem to hit them with regular meals.
